Seefeld Ski School.

The deviser of the parallel turn, Wilhelm Völck, is the founder of the Seefeld Ski School. Today, 90 years later and with 120 skiing instructors, the school offers a range of courses and lessons in all disciplines and is an official BMW partner.

Wilhelm Völck started the Seefeld Ski School with only five instructors in 1921. Ski lifts had not yet been invented but he devised the parallel turn and made Seefeld world famous. The hitherto most well-known instructor and head of the ski school until 1981 was Toni Seelos from Seefeld. At the beginning of the thirties, he was the four-time world champion in slalom and the combination.

Today, under the management of Erwin Seelos, up to 120 skiing instructors teach in the skiing area of Seefeld, an area which is ideal for beginners. The skiers are divided into six skills levels – from beginners to the advanced. There are courses for alpine skiers, snowboarders and/or freeriders, as well as for cross-country skiers in all techniques. It is possible to book group courses or private tuition in all the disciplines.

Children are taught “Curving to Carving” using play and a little green dragon named Gizzi. Everyone meets in Gizzi’s Children’s Club which even caters for two-year old tiny tots. However, it really gets going with the three to five-year old beginners. The children’s skiing paradise at Geigenbühel is absolutely ideal for the first snowplough turns. There are other child-friendly areas at the Geigenbühel lift and at the Rosshütte.

During the children’s ski courses, childcare at midday is included in the price. In the 120 m2  tent at Geigenbühel, the Krachelemoos Restaurant prepares special children’s dishes. For relaxation, there is even a children’s cinema. The first floor of the Skialm Rosshütte is reserved for lunch for the advanced young skiers (up to 15 years of age).

After every course, the Seefeld Ski School organises guest races. In addition, every Wednesday, snow rafting is offered; on Thursdays there is snowshoe hiking and, on alternate Tuesdays, skiing by torchlight is available. Ski and daily tours are held regularly, too.
The Seefeld Ski School is an official BMW partner.
